Getting The Perfect Golf Swing

Posted in Uncategorized on November 1st, 2010 by admin – 1,159 Comments

We might work for hours on the game of golf, but when we hit the course, we find ourselves constantly having to fight our way out of trouble once again. The reality may be in our initial swing, which sets up the entire hole. Although each swing would ideally be the perfect golf swing, the reality is that if we start off poorly, we are behind the rest of the hole.

It’s about technique more than it is about power, which is a hard lesson to learn and an even harder lesson to take to heart. The first swing is the most important; although a perfect golf swing from the tee does not guarantee a below par finish, it does make the rest of the shots easier than when you are having to battle from a bad position.

The Perfect Golf Swing

One of the main misconceptions about the golf swing is that there is a perfect golf swing. The fact of the matter is that there is no perfect golf swing. Every golfer has his own unique build and body type. Even with modern instruction, every golfer will have small nuances to his swing. It may resemble other golf swings, but the swing is still his own.

Instead of focusing on the perfect golf swing, it’s more beneficial to focus on the swing that feels comfortable to you. Consistency is the key to golf. No matter how ugly your swing is, as long as it produces repeatable and predictable results, you are well on your way to scoring well. Remember, what works for one golfer will not necessarily work for you.

Finding The Perfect Golf Swing

Finding the perfect golf swing is something that people work on for their entire lives. Nobody is born with the perfect golf swing; rather, it is a talent that takes years to hone, and comes from hours of analyzing what works for you and what doesn’t.

The perfect golf swing is different for everyone; what works for you will likely not work for someone else, as everyone’s body is different. While using someone else’s swing for inspiration is never a bad idea, copying it outright is, and will usually lead you in the wrong direction. Make not of what works for you and what doesn’t, and hone your swing over time through trial and error, just like the pros.

Chasing the Perfect Golf Swing

Someone who has never played a round of golf can not possibly understand what is meant by a perfect golf swing. It’s not something that can be explained or that can be demonstrated. More than the successful execution of a series of movements, including proper stance, correct alignment with the ball and smooth follow through, a perfect swing is almost a spiritual experience.

When everything comes together and the face of the club connects with the ball at exactly the right speed and angle, something happens to a golfer. If he’s new at the sport, he’s hooked. It may be a long time before it happens again but he will never forget it. If he’s a veteran on the links, then it’s sweet payback for all those times when he’s prayed for that perfect golf swing but came up short.

Perfect Your Golf Swing

To build the perfect golf swing you must breakdown your swing into several parts. First, you need to develop an athletic golf stance. The perfect golf swing will require you to look at your backswing, your downswing, and finally, your followthrough.

The backswing involves coiling your body to provide the torque you will need to drive the ball. It is best to develop a steady backswing that involves coiling your body as opposed to swinging your arms. Most consider the golf stance and backswing to be the most crucial parts to developing your swing. If you have proper mechanics for these two parts of your swing, the downswing and follow through should be successful because of the work you have already done to developing the perfect golf swing.

Swinging a baseball bat is easy and throwing a football is something that every kid can do. Having truly great golf swing mechanics is a huge challenge, though, and it is certainly not going to be done without a lot of practice. How do you get perfect golf swing mechanics? It would be hard to ever get things to the point where they could be called perfect, but getting to the best of your ability requires some lessons and the application of what you learn there.

Having proper golf swing mechanics requires knowledge of your swing plane, your tempo, and your setup. When you can combine these things into a powerfully built swing, you have a chance to put up good scores. With a basic knowledge of golf swing mechanics, you have no hope, though.

What Makes a Perfect Golf Swing?

Because the golf swing is such a subjective entity, it is interesting to analyze the concept of the perfect golf swing. Golf is a game that is based on getting a tiny ball in a tiny hole with as few a number of strokes as possible. Therefore, a perfect golf swing is one which consistently accomplishes the game’s primary objective.

In reality, a perfect golf swing is a consistent golf swing. Those who are able to repeat an effective swing time after time are flirting with perfection.

Because the game of golf is all about shooting the lowest score possible, there is really no such thing as a perfect golf swing. All the great golfers of the world have remarkably different swings, and this fact is reflective of the principle that golf is not about “how”, but it is about “how many”.
