Is Golf Swing Speed Important?

Posted in Uncategorized on October 12th, 2011 by admin – 311 Comments

How important is golf swing speed? If you’re a novice golfer, you might say it’s the most important thing in the world. If you’re an intermediate golfer, you might say that it’s not about your golf swing speed, but your golf swing tempo. If this describes you ” an intermediate player ” it’s also likely that you will explain why golf swing tempo trumps all. However, if you’re an advanced player, you will stress that golf swing speed is actually very important. This can all get confusing. Let’s explain.

The beginner thinks speed generates power. He’s right, but he also discounts the importance of tempo. The intermediate has been taught to forget about speed and to focus solely on tempo. He’s half right. Tempo is the most important, but speed shouldn’t be discounted, either. The advanced player knows that tempo is the most important factor in order to be a good player, but that you also need golf swing speed in order to fall into the “advanced” category.

A Great Golf Chipping Tip

Chipping is one of the most controversial topics when it comes to golf instruction. Many golf instructors feel you should switch clubs based on the situation. That might make sense for a player of their caliber, but what they often don’t realize is that most golfers are at the beginner or intermediate level. This means they should be sticking with the same golf club at all times. This allows a golfer to improve muscle memory based on the size, swing speed and weight of that particular club. While certain situations might call for a different club, it’s best to stick with equipment your body is familiar with. This will always lead to better results in the long run, which makes sticking with the same club one of the best golf chipping tips you will receive.

Cure My Slice

Posted in Uncategorized on June 2nd, 2011 by admin – 1,577 Comments

Have you ever played golf with someone who slows down the game because they slice the ball on every single drive? What is amazing about this player is that he hits his irons well. Why is the issue only with the driver? It’s so frustrating that you just want to shake the guy, but that’s bad golf etiquette.

I happen to be that guy and I know I need to cure my slice. I have been working on it for years, but not much has worked. I was told that muscle memory is the key, so more repetitions at the driving range have been helping. A new golf swing trainer has also been of some assistance. That said, I’m well aware that quality golf instruction will be the best way to cure my slice.

Therefore, I’m planning on setting up my first lesson this weekend.

Focus on golf swing instruction to improve your game

Anyone who wants to improve their golf game could benefit from golf swing instruction. While each player has their own finesse to their swinging motion, the fundamentals between them are essentially the same. That’s why if you really want to perfect your game, golf swing instruction is advised.

There are many ways to learn about the proper golf swing. You can watch the professional players and study their motions. It’s okay to watch local golfers including your friends, but if you deem them to have bad habits, stop watching them. You might subliminally pick up their bad moves otherwise.

Be focused and practice daily. Find a spot in the backyard and swing away.

Concentrate on the elements of the swing: grip, posture, pivot, hand-arm relationship, alignment, and your mental state.

Everyone has a natural golf swing

One of the most over looked elements of the golf swing is the positional sense that each of us have. It’s regulated by the inner ear and no amount of practice will improve it.

The natural golf swing of the professional is innate, i.e the player knows instinctively how hard to hit the ball, where to aim and adjusts the swing accordingly.

One stance may be fine for one player, but for another, something completely different will provide the muscle adjustments needed to hit the ball well. The key then is to balance out the muscle tension evenly in the body, using the natural golf swing for that individual.

No wonder then, that relaxing before a shot is the best way to tap into the body structure and activate your own natural golf swing.

The Importance of Golf Instruction

The most valuable advice that a new golf player can take to heart concerns the importance of golf instruction. When we’re new, especially if young, we don’t want to spend a lot of money on the game. We’ve already spent money on the course and likely on the clubs. The idea of shelling out additional money each week for golf instruction is not an enticing one.

However, it is vital that we avoid the bad habits as early as possibly because these are going to stick with us and limit our progress. If I had it to do over again, I would have defined a budget as a new player, and then made whatever concessions were necessary to fit golf instruction into my program. It’s even more practical now thanks to availability of instruction online.

Choosing The Best Golf Driver Is A Unique Process For Each Person

I’ve been having some trouble with my equipment, and I recently asked my trainer for some golf driver help. I basically just wanted some advice from him about which kind of driver to buy. He actually didn’t have an answer for me, but he reminded me about how personal the choice of a driver can be.

The process of choosing the right driver is going to vary so much from one player to the next that getting golf driver help from another person isn’t usually going to work out. In the end, I found a driver that suited my needs without any help, and things worked out for the best.

Anti-Slice Golf Intruction: The Basics Of Correcting A Slice

One of the most common problems that golfers are plagued by is the slice. If you have ever experienced this problem with mechanics, then you know how frustrating it can be. The best way to correct a slice is to have a professional look at your swing and dissect the mechanics. A player’s swing and grip will have the greatest effect on whether or not a slice occurs. The most common cause of a slice is if a player comes over the top during their swing. This means that, as the club is moving forward, it is coming down more towards the left. This leftward motion will cause the ball to spin clockwise and slice to the right. Most anti-slice golf instruction will involve working on swing mechanics. That is how far the player goes back on the back swing. Another form of anti-slice golf instruction involves changing the grip to in order to manipulate the face of the golf club.

Keep it Simple

Beginner golf tips are intended to instill a solid action for the player who has not developed a well-rounded golf game. Golf is a sport that, as one begins to learn the ins and outs, gets complex and intricate. Beginners golf tips should teach the beginning player only how to swing the club for consistent contact. Skipping instruction over consistent contact is detrimental for players who choose to bite off more than they can chew. Often, players will focus on swinging like the players they watch on television or learning from a book that they were given, without starting from the basic swing fundamentals. Drawing the club back and swinging on plane while hitting the sweet spot are critical instruction.

Real-life scenario

Players of all handicaps should always take the opportunity to get a golf course lesson. Different from lessons given at the range or a practice facility, a golf course lesson allows the player to encounter situations they may face in the course of a round. Players cannot always reproduce course conditions with available practice facilities. Golf course lessons can provide, along with the experience of playing under a situation where imaginative play might be necessary, the confidence in hitting every shot a player needs when they are on the course without their coach or teacher. Playing under course conditions with peers or colleagues can be unnerving when a player faces unknown scenarios. A golf course lesson minimizes the likelihood of such an event.
